The Taliban is today's Cunt of the Day.

Today we have learned of a suicide car bombing at Jalalabad airport which has killed at least 9 people. This, of course, is the work of the Taliban in apparent revenge for the burning of copies of the Koran at a US air base.

Since the incident there have been protests in which over 20 people have died. Of course the protesters are incited by religious leaders who, to further their horseshit cause, happily send young men out into the streets to die as they shout "Death to America". An Afghan police officer, Abdul Saboor, is now being hunted for murdering two senior US NATO officers - a pointless act that caused NATO to withdraw all its personnel from Afghan ministries.

In this clip an Afghanistani army commander, when asked what should happen to the troops responsible for burning the Koran, responded by saying "hang them". How very reasonable. It was after all some ink printed on a page. Imagine the same response from the west every time we see these assholes burning various flags? Perhaps mobs in the US and UK could be incited to riot and demand vengeance on those responsible.

At times like this the words of Christopher Hitchens look more reasonable than ever. Hitchens, you may remember, readily stood behind the invasion of Afghanistan:

"No possible future government in Kabul can be worse than the Taliban, and no thinkable future government would allow the level of Al Qaeda gangsterism to recur. So the outcome is proportionate and congruent with international principles of self-defense."

There is no reasoning with the Taliban, just as there is no humor or irony. This is because they are extremist assholes who are as willing to kill innocent people as they are to dispense with their own. And for what? Hitchens is right - we must defeat these cunts because they are not going to stop until we do.
