The government of the Province of Ontario, Canada is today's Cunt of the Day.
As the G8 and G20 summits get under way in Ontario this weekend, it has come to light that the government of Ontario recently passed a law that extends the powers of the police for the duration of the summits, powers that no one knew about.
That the Canadians are shelling out a record of over $1 billion to host the two summits is one thing, that some of their rights have been taken away during that time is a fucking disgrace. Welcome to the 21st century - where governments piss on the right to protest.
The really dark part of this story is that the law was passed in secret, and it is not due to be gazetted, which is when new laws are announced, until July 3rd - some 5 days after the law expires. The Civil Liberties Union had put together a pamphlet for protesters at the summits, explaining their rights; the pamphlet was screened by both government and police - who failed to mention the new police powers.
From an objective standpoint, this looks very much like the government and police colluding to move the goalposts so that protesters who think they are fully aware of their rights and the law can be completely blindsided by the police.
This all came to light with the arrest on Thursday of Dave Vasey, an environmental advocate who refused to identify himself to police as he thought was his right. Vasey now has a court date next month where he faces a $500 fine or two months in jail.

The Vatican is today's Cunt of the Day.
The BBC informs us that the Vatican is indignant at the Belgian police for their raid on the headquarters of the Belgian Catholic church yesterday. If the police decide that drilling into tombs is what they need to do to apprehend priests who have been drilling into children then let us go with their collar feeling judgment. The Vatican can cry “violation” all it likes, but it has been behind the covering up of more than its share of violations in the past and should shut the fuck up.
Fuck the Pope and all his nasty little priests and bishops. Weren’t they supposed to be sorry and ready to do all that it takes to fix the Catholic church’s predilection with child rape? If so, then why don’t they shut the fuck up and let the police get on with their work; this would tie in with the Belgian Catholic church's promise of “zero tolerance” for child abuse. Or have they changed their mind?

We learn from the BBC that a Jewish dance group in Hanover, Germany had stones thrown at them when performing on the street. While it is easy to believe that people are angry at Israel these days, taking that anger out on Jews is fucking wrong, and throwing stones and shouting words of hatred wins the hateful little fuckers responsible Cunt of the Day.

General Stanley McChrystal is today's Cunt of the Day.
Barack Obama has sacked McChrystal, who was the US commander in Afghanistan. You can't really argue with the decision, as McChrystal showed incredibly poor judgment by slating the Commander in Chief in a magazine interview, an act of mind-numbingly incompetent stupidity.
Like the departure of David Laws in the UK, there might be a feeling that someone who might well be a good man for the job at hand has been forced out due to their own stupidity. Meanwhile, you've got to admit that this Obama man can be very frightening indeed - he looks like a real "ass kicker"
